Over the last month or so the back end code/database of the KoolWired site was completely re-designed from the ground up. The site has shed its roots in Cold Fusion and Microsoft SQL Server in favor of ASP.NET (C#) and PostgreSQL. Eventually we plan on moving the site on to a FreeBSD server running Apache and Mono (.NET for UNIX).
The primary reasons for this redesign is cost reduction as both Cold Fusion and MS SQL are far too expensive considering the functionality we needed to achieve. Some other advantages of this platform over the pre-existing one are the use of pre-compiled reusable code and stored procedures (functions in PostgreSQL).
Koolwired has developed a bandwidth monitoring software based on Cold Fusion and PostgreSQL. The software is using the built in graphing functionality in Cold Fusion to generate reports and is currently in use by K2 Colocation. Unlike many MRTG and RRD Tool implementations Koolwired's bandwith monitor is based on flexibility and ease of use. Using the web based interface monitering of devices can be added, updated and deleted in seconds and without having to manually change settings or move data.

The deal will allow KoolWired to provide its customers with reasonably priced colocation services and allow Koolwired to provide on site management of customer equipment.
